Three Great Resources for Election Week Self-Care

Updated: Nov 5

The polls are closing: 7:00 EST in Kentucky, and 7:30 EST in Ohio. All of the political anxiety can be a lot to handle, to put it minimally. So many of you have processed in session how this election cycle has been affecting you, so now is an appropriate time to step back and take care of yourselves as you await the results.

  1. Trauma-informed FREE Election Week Community Support: This Wednesday and Thursday.

Election week brings up a lot of intense feelings and creates distress for most. Join Through the Phases Counseling for a collective space to receive support and be in community with others. Anyone is welcome, and these spaces will center LGBTQIA+ experiences.

  2. Election Brave Space at The Hive: Wednesdays through November 20th, 7:00 - 9:00 PM.

Political polarization and forces of resisting and alienation across political divides are ill-equipped to positively create the alternative future we are capable of co-creating. There’s great value in gathering with a group of friends to metabolize what we’re noticing in ourselves and around us during this political season.

  3. Self-Care Saturdays at Five Rivers Health Centers: Saturdays through January, 11:00 - 1:00 PM.

Join Spectrum New Beginnings for a free, refreshing opportunity to unwind, recharge, and focus on you. Whether you’re looking for a few moments of calm or seeking new ways to care for your body and mind, this event invites you to curate your own personal self-care journey.

If you're unable to get out of the house, the first resource on the list is offered virtually. As always, remember that self-care isn't selfish — it's necessary. You don't need to interact with anyone to participate in grounding, immersing yourself in nature, or a digital detox (see the graphic above.)
